"A flashing talent straight form the street of the lost." -- L' Express
So, in this alternative Earth of the 1980's everything is turned upside down. Bass deserves a lot of credit for her courage in writing this. Just yesterday, I learned that an internal investigation conducted by an outside firm (hired when the school board got 3 new members - no longer 'led' by a very dysfunctional administrator/Board member-wife team) the report led to dismissal of 13 administrators (virtually EVERY PRINCIPAL, plus some at the DO). I use this more as an occasional reference and find the quaint spellings and grammar of the Chinese/English translation more joyous than interfering. She did, though: the interrogation in the first chapter does a good enough job of setting up both the plotline and the characters' basic personalities that I was interested from then on.- The plot seemed believable to me and included details about aspects of the men's lives that I had never thought about before. You can be the judge for the book!"Knock knock! Who's there? Barbie! Barbie, who? Barbie Q!"Whatever it took. Then he made it big-- only to find others had not forgotten, had no intention of forgiving. He left behind a Cadillac and a diary, left it to a writer Donald Goines called "Paul Pawlowski." Like all Goines' novels, Never Die alone is based on truth.. They came after him. If it took busting an old lady's head open with a Coke bottle for her last dollar, so be it. Mixing battery acid with cocaine to gain revenge was acceptable, too. King David never let anything stand in his way, as he clawed his way out of tyhe mean streetsBetween 1969 and 1974, he published sixteen novels, which are now recognized as almost unbearably authentic portraits of the roughest aspects of the black experience. . Donald Goines (1936 1974) was a career criminal and addict who took up writing during one of his seven prison sentences
