Needless to say, Cargill and Archer-Daniels Midland executives are not going to be enamored of Diet, but any citizen concerned about the state of farming in the US, and its effects on public health and environmental well-being, would do well to read this book.Cook organizes his topic into three sections, dealing with food quality and safety; the business and economic aspects of modern agriculture; and environmental consequences of profligate pesticide use and "factory" farm effluents. Rendered in acrylic paints, artist Ponder Goembel (who's first name I may well steal for my own child someday) throws her back into this book. I've even learned some new things by reading his book. Even if your child is not reading on their own yet, they'll be delightedly poring through this book for hours and hours on end.I certainly hope that "Old Cricket" won itself a fair share of awards the year it came out. Now, a work of this size doesn't need to describe all 9 uses of the present indicative described in Smyth (though including a couple might have been nice). The author is aClear step-by-step instructions lead readers through each photographically illustrated project.. The carefully chosen selection of pottery projects is divided into three main sections, each concentrating on a particular decorating method, including underglaze, glaze, and onglaze. This is a reader's entre to a rewarding pastime and a thousand-year-old tradition
